!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
This is not a cheap TV, but IS an OLED for *WAY* less than they usually cost...
gah.
damn.
I mean, honestly I don’t even use the big screen that often, and this is a curved set, I have a semi-rational hatred of curved sets... STILL, OLED!!!
Gah, these things are just so, so, so pretty....
shiny.....
/smacks own hand
NO! NO! don’t do it!
so pretty...

I actually just picked up a 48" Samsung UHD 4K smart TV at Walmart. Brand new in box. For $299. I couldn’t pass it up.

Yea, had the same internal discussion today.
Curved still sucks more than OLED is great. My next TV is the Vizio P 65"

Your hatred of curved TVs is entirely rational, as there is no advantage to a curved display.
How future proof is this TV? HDMI 2.0? HDCP 2.2?

Vizio Master Race.

$300 for a 48" Samsung. Damn. Too bad I really have no excuse to get rid of my 42" Vizio Plasma. Although I do kind of wish I had a bathroom in the can...

Not 4K, no HDR.

Most people put the can in the bathroom. I don’t know why you would want to put the bathroom in the can.

I have no 4k source devices, except for any smart capability the TV may have built in, so that doesn’t concern me so much. OLED is probably the only technology (does anyone still make plasma sets?) currently capable of making the difference between HDR and non-HDR content truly meaningful, so it’s kinda a bummer that it doesn’t have it...
The curved really bugs me though.
*sigh*
no, I won’t be buying this set... as much as OLED calls to me.

But how many tacos could you buy for the same price?

Good point. lol
Maybe I should put a TV in the bathroom too.

Depends on the Taco...

Because of deals like this, we have so many tvs just lying around unplugged.
They become worthless so selling them is pointless.

Maybe a year ago at this price I would’ve jumped on it just because I want something a little bigger than my 42 inch plasma, but with 4k slowly becoming more of a thing I guess I’ll hold off a while longer and wait for OLED to continue to improve and go down in price. Despite the improvements of LCD sets I’d still rather my older, smaller plasma.

Um, is there some particular TV deal that is so widely known that we’re supposed to know what TV you’re talking about with no link, or mention of brand or model?

there’s a link. maybe your ad-blocker hides it?

Ah, yeah that’s it.
